Cedar Grove is owned and operated by Kevin and Julie Claus. There’s no management company between you and your stay — when you call with a question, need help choosing the right cabin, or need assistance during your visit, you’re speaking directly with us or with a member of our own Cedar Grove team.
We often get asked, "How did you get into the cabin rental business?" The simple answer is that we started off as guests just like you. We always appreciated the personal touches and genuine hospitality that come with a family‑owned vacation rental, and we wanted to bring that same experience to others.
Our journey began with a lakefront home on Norris Lake, TN. After years of family memories and hosting guests there, we started searching for something closer to home. During a car‑club drive through the Hocking Hills, we instantly fell in love with the natural beauty of the region. After a yearlong search, we purchased our first lodge in 2010 — and in the summer of 2011, we acquired what is now Cedar Grove Retreat.
From the beginning, we envisioned a place where guests could escape their daily routines and truly relax. Each cabin went through extensive renovations, new furnishings, and thoughtful updates to bring that vision to life. In 2013, we completed Stillwater Lodge, our guest services and operations building, along with the pond at the center of the property. A year later, Kevin left the corporate world to focus on Cedar Grove full‑time and began serving on industry boards and consulting with other lodging owners.
Our largest expansion came with the creation of The Haven Event Lodge, completed in 2018 — and fittingly opened by celebrating our own son's wedding. The Haven brings our vision full circle: a place where people can gather, slow down, and enjoy each other's company in the peaceful solitude of the Hocking Hills.
Our favorite part of running Cedar Grove is our guests. We love hearing about your adventures, sharing our favorite spots, and helping you create memories that last long after your stay.
